Constanta South Container Terminal

CSCT terminal in the newest and most modern container terminal in the whole Black Sea area and started its operations as from April 16th 2004. All major carriers are taking benefit of its modern structure (MSC, NORASIA, HAPAG LLOYD, ZIM, CSCL, SENATOR, NYK, KLINE)

Terminal used to have 3 stages of development that were rushed due to success that out paced initial expectations:

  • First stage > the capacity is of 325,000 TEU (present status)
  • Second stage > the capacity will be increased up to 405,000 TEU by 2009
  • Third stage > further development up to 800,000-1,000,000 TEU is foreseen after 2014-2015.

Pier II S of South Port is an existing pier of a water depth of 14.5m and a pier length of 1,800 m together with a back-port area of already reclaimed yard of approximately 90 ha. But, no yard improvements or surface pavement have been performed for the yard preparation. Until now there have been completed large volumes of infrastructure works such as breakwaters, docking quays, reclamation, dredging etc.

  • Container Freight Station: ground-floor & 2 levels – 4,091 sq m
  • Main Gate and Canopy: metallic cantilever, P+1 office bldg, control cab
  • Quay Gantry Cranes’ Railway: 608 m, along berths 122-123
  • Rail mounted Cranes’ Railway: 616 m
  • Rubber Tyred Gantry Cranes’ Ways: 5 longitudinal, 4 transverse
  • Roads & Platforms, Railway terminal, Maintenance & Amenity buildings, Fuel station, Weighting bridge, Yard toilet, Water pump station, etc.

  • 8 Quay Gantry Cranes type Post Panamax (berths 121/122/123)
  • Lifting capacity under the spreader 40.6 t; span 30.5 m; outreach 45 m; backreach 11 m; total lifting height 48 m
  • 13 Rubber Tyred Gantry Cranes
  • Lifting capacity under the spreader 40.6 t; span 23.5 m; total lifting height 15.24 m
  • 2 Rail Mounted Gantry Cranes
  • Lifting capacity under the spreader 40.6 t; span 32 m; total lifting height 9.5 m
  • 55 Terminal Tractors type TT120
  • 60 Terminal Chassis for 40/45′ containers type LD50, transport capacity 50 t
  • 4 Reach Staker for Laden Container Handling.
  • Handling capacity 45 t first row, 30.5-second row, 15 t-third row
  • 4 Front Spreader Lift Truck for Empty Container Handling. Handling capacity 9 t
  • 2 Fork Lift Truck for General Use, type H 30D, handling capacity 3 t
  • 5 Electric Fork Lift Truck for Container Freight Station, type E 16C, handling capacity 1.6t
  • 624 Reefer Plugs + 180 on GenSet
